Mentor Simone Heery

Expertise: Visual merchandising and display, interior design and styling.

Personal Summary:

Having graduated from FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology, New York) and DIT, I worked as a display and merchandising manager for Arnotts department store from October 1994 to January 2003. I am now currently working as a freelance retail consultant, designer and window display artist. I have had the opportunity to work on projects such as event styling and exhibition design with Eleanor Harpur for the Crafts Council and Dulux. I am also undergoing seasonal window displays for a number of retailers and in-store merchandising for various suppliers throughout Ireland. I have gained valuable experience throughout the years working with buyers on product selection and placement within a retail space.
Through visiting showrooms, studios and competitive stores worldwide I have learnt to understand and appreciate the hard work that each designer/crafts person has undergone and their love and compassion for their product. I am best recognised for my creativity in window displays and my strong merchandising skills to maximise sales in all areas. I hope to be able to offer practical and helpful advice in all mentoring sessions and to work with clients to develop their ideas by focusing on where help is needed the most.

Mentoring Experience:

I have been working at the Crafts Fair and Showcase Ireland for the past three years and have supported and helped individuals set up their stands prior to opening at the RDS. I have also worked at the FUSE workshops, where I have given advice on how to approach retailers, the importance of product placement and key merchandising tips.
