Mentoring Experience:

15+ years' experience as a Creative Director, Design Team & Client Lead in product design consultancy. This included reviewing, managing and mentoring all designers that worked at Design Partners for a 12 year period. I have a broad understanding of design theory, ideation methods, concept work, aesthetics, collaboration, prototyping, experimentation, design trends, market trends and branding - together with experience of hand, machine, CNC and digital product development methods. 25 years as a practising product designer and design consultant for international clients. I have acted as a partner and company director in running a design consultancy business for over 12 years. Design consultant to leading international brands in consumer electronics and house wares. I have lectured to students of design including acting as an internal assessor and design tutor for two years at NCAD. As a practising designer I focus on form, silhouette, line, surface, texture and meaning. I am interested in the origins and essence of ‘good’ design. I believe that the distinctions between creative disciplines are blurred and that the future of making – or at least what is interesting - lies in the blurred places.
