Méabh Ring provides mentoring in the area of marketing, branding, sales growth and export. Working with a wide range of craft and design disciplines, she has guided businesses with their sales and marketing strategy and exhibiting at national and international trade shows. With over 20 years’ experience in retail, design and craft she had gained knowledge, understanding and insight into our creative industries and their business needs. Méabh provides mentoring and business training for designer makers attending Showcase Ireland. The providence of the craft, the story of the skill, the meaningfulness, the creative process and the inspiration behind the product are key for the consumer and Méabh notes that this “story” needs to be captured in the branding for designer makers.
She has organised numerous events, trade shows and exhibitions in Ireland and overseas including Cork Craft Month, Ireland Pavilion at IJL, London and the Cork Collective at Celtic Marketplace Trade Show, USA.
Méabh Ring mentors designer makers in marketing and sales, often when they are preparing for Showcase and for International trade shows. She has worked with enterprises exhibiting at gift and craft export shows including; International Jewellery London, Secaucus Ireland in USA and Top Drawer in UK. Working within the creative sector, each mentor assignment is different and interesting with key objectives of improving business skills and growing sales. Typical mentor objectives include developing sales and marketing strategies, product branding, pricing for export, styling a trade stand, market research and routes to sales. The mentoring is delivered to empower the designer maker with the tools and techniques on how to market their products and grow their sales. Méabh Ring has worked in the craft, design and retail sector for almost 20 years, first as a product designer, later as a retailer and now in the area of training and mentoring. She has worked with the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland’s mentoring panel and with their training workshops. Working as a Craft and Design Consultant with Local Enterprise Offices nationally she mentors startups and micro enterprise on growing their craft business and targeting an export market. As a mentor, trainer and business advisor Méabh has worked on a wide range of activities to promote the design and craft sector including craft retail projects such as Cork Craft Month and Year of Craft 2011.
