I have 16 years' sales experience, working for Carrigaline Pottery for six years, Stephen Pearce Pottery for five years and Louis Mulcahy Pottery for four years (I still represent Louis as a freelance agent). My role has been sales and key account management. Over the years, I have gained knowledge, not only on how to present and close a sale, but how to grow and increase turnover within stores. In that time I gained valuable experience and knowledge of working with buyers and sales staff to achieve growth in sales. In May 2012, I set up my own business as a freelance representative for a number of both established and up and coming craft brands, such as Louis Mulcahy, The Handmade Soap Company and The Splate Company. As above, we have concentrated on growing sales and working together: working hard with shops on product presentation, staff training and finding out ways to offer the end customer value for money, while still keeping at brand level. The key is to build a trust with not only the buyers, but the staff on the sales floor.
In 2012, I worked with some crafts people from Kildare Leader for a morning on an unofficial capacity, helping them with product placement in the market; listing shops suited to their product; helping, encouraging and advising them on how to approach the relevant buyers and present their product and make a sale.
I have also advised and passed on my portfolio of contacts to colleagues in the industry.
